Let me first apologize. I haven't updated this website in 2 WHOLE YEARS HOLY CRAP WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?
(I do update my main website more. www.victoriabudkey.com)
So, I actually set a goal to read 50 books this year, and I'm just very slightly behind schedule. I'm not too worried, as I have all of summer with no school to catch back up. :) My best friend Holland bought me two books for Christmas, so this book is actually the first book I read and finished this year.
This book, which is the first in the Woodcutter Series, is titled "Enchanted." We are first introduced to the Woodcutter family, who you'll fall in love with. (3 sons and 7 daughters?!?!) Each book focuses on a different sister. This one is Sunday's story.
Sunday has a gift in writing. Not just a talent, but a magical gift relating to writing. And there's a frog. Yes, she kisses the frog. Yes, it's a prince. But just hang on. I swear you'll like it.
My biggest complaint with most fairytales is the lack of depth the characters possess. Females are whiny and useless; men are full of bravado and bravery and are unfeeling. Thank you, Ms. Kontis, for breaking that mold, and still producing a magical story.
If you need a story to redeem fairytales to you, choose this one.
Pacing, setting, characters, climax - it's all a very beautifully wrapped package. Without the fluff. Hopefully you guys know how I hate fluff.
